The West Myanmar Region

Bordered by India, Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal, the West Myanmar Region has sparsely populated hillside villages contrasted by dense cities.

Many of the villagers make their income breeding cows, pigs, buffalo, chickens, fish and prawns—while others grow rice and beans on their farms. The natural gas industry also provides jobs in this region.

The Chin state—which was the major focus of missionary Adoniram Judson’s ministry in the early 1800s—is located in this region.
