Leprosy is still a problem in many developing nations, even though it is curable. Many people in Asia who contract leprosy hide their condition because of the ostracism leprosy patients experience. If left untreated, the disease ravages their bodies. Fear of the disease and a lack of understanding about how it is transmitted cause communities to shun leprosy patients and force them into seclusion.
GFA-supported workers follow Christ’s example of caring for those afflicted with leprosy. By providing treatment and practical help for leprosy patients, these workers show that Jesus loves and accepts all—even those rejected by society and disfigured by disease.
Please ask God to heal people with leprosy, to restore their relationships with those in society and to strengthen the people ministering to them.
